Longest Day 5K – Setting a New Tradition

Longest Day 5K – Setting a New Tradition

June 20 – The longest day of the year proved to be the hottest day of the year, with temps near 95 at 5pm then easing down to 85 degrees at race time.  The turnout for the first annual event exceeded all expectations, with 30+ kids participating in the fun run, 121 runners for the 5k, and over 50 spectators!  Adam Zukowski finished a close first place at 19:15 time with Bill Marisiki slightly behind at 19:21. Celeste Emery   finished first in the women’s division at 24:18.  Runners ranged from age 9 to 73.

Fun was had by all with lots of baked goods, good camaraderie, and a celebration of the longest evening of the year! Thanks to everyone, Libby Hill Trails raised nearly $1600 that will help pay for our new snow groomer for cross country skiing and other trail projects.
