Libby Hill Trails, Gray, Maine – June 2nd, 1:30pm – Come celebrate National Trails Day by meeting some descendants of Daniel and James Libby. A new kiosk and granite bench will be dedicated at the site of the cellar hole which was the home of the original settler of Libby Hill, James Libby. A working farm from 1816 through the 1860s, all that remains today is the foundation of the original house. The new bench will provide a great view of Libby Hill Trails and mimic the view the Libby family had out their front door. Following the dedication a short walking tour of the trails will explore the old granite quarry and other relics of the old farm. Volunteers will guide participants at the parking lot on Libby Hill Road. Transportation to the top of the hill is also available for those unable to hike the 1/2 mile from the parking lot. Please arrive at the parking lot by 1:15 if you need transportation or by 1:30 at the memorial bench which is at the top of Libby Hill.
