New Trail and Name Change at TBP

Thayer Brook Preserve has made some changes to their trail system this week. The changes are designed to improve trail damage on the Mill trail and route around areas that are beyond repair.

The Mill Trail (yellow blaze) has been terminated at the old Mill site which has been cleared to include a bench and view of the stream and dam. An excavator has also done ditching and drainage work on the Mill trail to prevent pooling of water in the trail in the spring. You may experience loose rocks and gravel in those sections. The old ATV trail from the bridge up to the Far Side trail will be unmarked and just used for snowmobile use.

The Ridge Runner Trail (blue blaze) now has a trail head for the “Far Side” trail (orange blaze) which connects to the old mill site, it then uses the bridge to cross Thayer Brook then bypasses the old ATV trail to connect the better sections father north. It them combines with the former “Upper Trail” to connect to the Lynx Trail on Libby Hill trails.

New benches will be in place at the old mill site and in the bird blind on the Marsh on the Outback.
